AMBASSADOR EITAN LEVON
CONSUL GENERAL OF ISRAEL TO SOUTHWEST UNITED STATES
Ambassador Eitan Levon was appointed in 2015 to head the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest United States, which is responsible for the six-state region of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Consulate's departments include Political Diplomacy, Hispanic Affairs, Academic Affairs and Cultural Affairs. Within the respective departments, there is a focus on Christian Outreach.
The Consulate is an official representative of the Israeli government and not a lobbying body. Since Israel is such a close ally of the United States, the maintenance and development of positive working relationships with elected officials at all levels of government if a key component of their diplomatic mission.
Prior to assuming the post of Consul General to the Southwest United States, he was Israel's representative to Conference on Disarmament at the United Nations in Geneva.
Ambassador Levon has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more than two decades in various positions, including a Director of the International Affairs in Jerusalem.
He holds a Master’s degree in National Security from the Israeli National Defense College at Haifa University. Levon is married and has three children.
In 2012, Cherry Tree Republicans celebrated its 20th anniversary as a Republican club in Harris County. It is wonderful to see Cherry Tree continuing to grow and building a stronger foundation on which to stand. Cherry Tree members attend and actively participate in local, state and national meetings of the GOP. Monthly meetings and special events feature invited guests who speak on a variety of topics and provides members and guests the opportunity to exchange perspectives on local, state and national issues. In 1992 a group of like-minded individuals in Northwest Houston led by Lee and Becky James and Kelly and Marcie Fessler began meeting to talk about forming a new conservative organization. In the beginning, they met in the home of the James’ followed by a series of meetings in the home of Dr. Gene and Reina Fontenot. As a symbol of honesty and truthfulness, they chose to name the club Cherry Tree Republicans.
